EPDM Roof Repair With New Window Installation
For this project, we worked closely with the client to breathe new life into an ageing flat roof by applying a durable EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) membrane and upgrading the structure with a larger roof window. The goal was to improve waterproofing, boost energy efficiency, and increase natural light inside the space.
Challenge & Scope
- The existing roof was showing signs of wear, with leaks and weak spots in the old felt covering.

Our Approach & Execution
- Site Assessment & Preparation
We began by carefully inspecting the existing roof substrate, removing deteriorated felt and ensuring a solid base for reworking. Any damaged substrate material was replaced or reinforced to provide a stable foundation. - Installing the EPDM Membrane
EPDM was selected for its durability, flexibility, and long-term weather resistance. We trimmed and adhered the membrane precisely across the roof surface, taking care to avoid seams near high-stress zones. Flashing and sealing were applied carefully, especially where the membrane meets the edges and penetrations. - Integrating the New Window
Simultaneously, we framed and installed a larger roof window to improve light ingress. The newly installed window was carefully tied into the EPDM waterproofing system, with custom detailing to prevent leaks at corners and edges. We used compatible flashing and sealants to ensure a continuous, watertight barrier around the new window unit. - Finishing & Quality Checks
After membrane and window installation, we completed final trimming, took care of the finishing touches around edges and upstands, and performed a rigorous water test to confirm leak-free performance. We also inspected from inside to ensure the window operation and finish were flawless.
